Seattle's "Grunge Rock" scene entered the national spotlight in 1991 with the huge success of Nirvana's "Nevermind." Many others would follow Nirvana's lead, achieving super stardom and making grunge the "it" sound for early rock. By 1994 the scene's most recognizable face was dead, and most other successful grunge acts had either split or retreated from their stardom. Although short lived these Seattle pioneers are still influencing the way we (and the labels) view hard rock.
